Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Koeppel

Hello!! My name is Mrs. Koeppel and I am a 6th grade special education teacher at Herman Badillo Bilingual Academy, BPS #76. This is my 3rd year at HBBA in the 6th grade. I have been with Buffalo Public Schools since May 2018 and have loved all of the students and families I have had the opportunity to work with!

I grew up in Cheektowaga, NY with my parents, twin sister, and younger brother. I attended Daemen College for my Bachelor's degree in Childhood Education and Special Education for grades 1-6. I then went on to Buffalo State College for my Master's degree in Special Education for grades 1-6. I am currently certified in early childhood/childhood education (Birth - grade 6), as well as special education (Birth - grade 6). During college, I began working for the recreation department in Cheektowaga for their summer day camps. I also became involved in the Adapted Recreation Program. This program serves individuals with disabilities of all ages and includes social outings, sports trainings, including partiicpation in Special Olympics, and a Saturday mini-camp for our younger participants. I have been involved with these programs for over ten years, which has helped to foster my career choices in the area of special education. I currently serve as the assistant camp director for the summer day camp and manage our sports programming and Special Olympics participation for the Adapted Recreation Program.

I still live in Cheektowaga, NY with my husband, Michael, and our dog, Max. We just welcomed our first child, Madison Grace, at the end of June!! We enjoy being outside and spending time wtih family and friends. My husband and I love to go hiking! We enjoy going to the Adirondacks as much as we can. We are lookiing forward to sharing these family traditions with our growing family!
