    Check out the read aloud of Water is Water by Miranda Paul.

    Here is the song that goes to the book sung by Emily Arrow. This video includes the motion guide for the song. Be careful, this song may get stuck in your head!

    Try out some activities after reading the story and listening to the song. 

    • Learn vocabulary and play water cycle games at http://www.discoverwater.org/water-cycle/
    • Research the percentage of water by weight for animals, food, or plants.
    • Diagram the way the water cycle works in a rain forest or desert.

  • The Bear and the Piano

    After listen to the book and checking out the author's website here are some activites that you can try. 

     

    • Write a story about an animal who plays an instrument. 
    • Research different types of bears. How do they compare to one another?
    • Where are bears located in the world? Find these areas on a map.

    If you could be any kind of animal, what would you be? Would anyone choose to be a lion? Check out this read aloud, Lion Lesson by Jon Agee. 

    Did you know that lions are the secons largest cat species?

    Did you know that lions can reach speeds of up to 50mph?!

    Did you know the roar of a lion can be heard 5 miles away?

    Did you know that a female lion is called a lioness and they are better hunters than males?

    Did you konw, in the wild, lions rest for around 20 hours a day?

    Check on the lion cam at the Smithsonian's National Zoo. You can see what the lions do all day. Sometimes you can even watch them at feeding time!

    Have you ever heard of Ramadan? I'm sure some of you have. Ramadan is April 24 - May 23. It is the ninth month of the muslim year in which strict fasting is observed from sunrise to sunset. Learn more about this time by listening to Reem Faruqi reading her book, Lailah's Lunchbox
