    COURSE DESCRIPTION

    The VISUAL ARTS class offers students a comprehensive arts experience with detailed explorations in drawing, painting, crafts ceramics and sculpture.  In addition to gaining confidence and proficiency in working with a variety of medium of making art students will learn the New York State Standards of creating art, using art materials, analyzing artworks and understanding cultural contributions to the arts.

    Textbook: Artalk

    Course will proceed through the year by instruction of The Elements and Principles of Art, Concept Based Projects, Culturally Relevant Teaching and Social Justice Themes

    CRITERIA FOR STUDENT SUCCESS

    Be on time to class.

    Use polite words and gestures.

    Use business-like language.

    Use materials as intended.

    Work daily toward mastery of vocabulary and assignments

    GRADING AND ASSESSMENT

    Quarter grade based on:

    80% projects

    10% writing

    10% studio demeanor

     

    BEHAVOIR: 

    Minor offensive and major offensives will follow school guideline for corrections to include conversation with student, parent contact and administrative referral
