The Buffalo Teacher Center has been a viable and effective influence in the District since 1978. The Center has expanded its activities each year to meet the increasing demands placed on it. The programs and services offered respond to the needs of teachers and students. Workshops, one district credit courses, technology lending program, workroom materials and information have attracted Buffalo Public School teachers as well as non-public and parochial schools within our district.
The courses evolve from needs assessments, teacher requests and the leadership of the Teacher Center Policy Board. The steady support of the teachers has underlined the value of the Teacher Center in providing thousands of hours of professional learning, serving hundreds of teachers. Our partnership with the Staff Development has developed into many partnerships with our BPS departments in: Art, Physical Education, ELLs, Social Studies, Science, Math, CLRI and Instructional Technology. We continue to work with both the higher education institutions and the other 16 Teacher Centers in our area that make up the Far West Consortium. Involvement with the other 125 Teacher Centers within NYS allows us to utilize all the expertise of our statewide partners who share our philosophy of teachers helping teachers for the good of our students.
