Stand-Alone English as a New Language (ENL) courses are designed for English Language Learners. It is Common Core Learning Standards-based instruction that allows for the rapid mastery of the English language, focusing on reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Stand-Alone ENL provides a systematic approach to literacy development and addresses academic English that students need in order to be successful in content-area classrooms. Services are determined by a student’s level of English language proficiency, as determined by the New York State English as a Second Language Achievement Test (NYSESLAT).
