May Highlights

  • It was a Mother's Day celebration throughout the District with many of our Saturday Academies themeing their programming around the holiday.  At Frank Sediata Academy #30 there were a number of ways to celebrate mothers and maternal figures in our lives.  CEPA Art Gallery set up shop allowing participants to get free family portraits! Families had the opportunity to decorate cupcakes with mom that were actually baked from scratch by #30's Home Economics students.

We also want to give a special shout out to Community School #30, as they had over 30 attendees from Rochester join their Saturday Academy!  We love to hear just how far the work of the BPS Community Schools reaches.  Thank you to our building Administration, staff, Say Yes Buffalo, and all other community partners and vendors who make this possible.

  • In honor of the Kentucky Derby falling on the same day, IPREP #198 decided to bring a very unique and exciting activity to their Saturday Academy...horse drawn carriage rides! Attendees received free rides through the West Side surrounding IPREP. What a fantastic experience!

As always, #198 had a lot of activity in the gym with their pickup soccer and basketball games.  We love to see it!

  • North Park Academy #50 took Saturday Academies to a new level with their rock climbing wall on May 7th!
