Early childhood is such an exciting time for students and their families! Children are welcomed into their "school family" and provided a safe space to learn and grow. Pre-K sets the foundation for a successful academic career and a positive connection to school. As a PreKindergarten school social worker, my role is to assist the teachers with supporting the individual needs of the students to ensure they are able to reach their fullest potential by:
Referring identified students to the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE)
Observing and interacting in the classroom setting
Offering suggestions for classroom management and individual student intervention
Providing sensory supports to promote attention and focus
Collaborating with Pre-K Instructional Coaches to provide intervention, materials, and resources
Supporting the implementation of the Second Step social emotional curriculum
Collaborating with BPS partners at Say YES to provide services to families
Providing linkages to families for community resources
