Blue Economy at Riverside Academy is one of the district's new and exciting innovative high schools, which is a cental component of Superintendent Dr. Kriner Cash's New Education Bargain. The four-year high school offers career and technical programs geared to preparing students for careers in the the fundamental components of the blue economy movement: sustainable commercial and recreational fisheries;tourism and recreation; andcoastal restoration.
Blue Economy at Riverside Academy is a brand new high school program located within walking distance of the Niagara River which flows out of Lake Erie, one of the Great Lakes, which forms the largest group of freshwater lakes on Earth, containing 21% of the world’s fresh water by volume.
Currently, Buffalo is undergoing a major resurgence of its waterfront and waterways. The Great Lakes adds $13.6 billion to the gross domestic product (GDP) of the US Economy. This is an economic engine that can provide our students with career and college opportunities.
