    COURSE DESCRIPTION:

    INTRODUCTION TO THE PRINCIPLES OF DRAFTING TO INCLUDE TRADITIONAL AND CAD TECHNIQUES,DRAFTING STANDARDS, MULTIVIEW DRAWING,DIMENSIONING, ISOMETRIC DRAWING, MECHANICAL WORKING DRAWINGS,ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS AND AUTO CAD BASICS.

    TOOLS/MATERIALS:

    EACH STUDENT MUST HAVE .7MM TECHNICAL PENCIL,45 DEGREE TRIANGLE, 30-60 TRIANGLE, A ARCHITECT SCALE AND A ERASER.

    PREREQUISITES:

    NONE

    COURSE RATIONAL:

    INTRODUCE STUDENTS TO THE PRINCIPLES OF TECHNICAL DRAWING EMPLOYING BOTH TRADITIONAL DRAFTING AND COMPUTER-AIDED-DRAFTING TECHNIQUES. DESCRIBE AND DEMONSTRATE THE PROCESS OF VISUALIZATION AND CONSTRUCTING MULTIVIEW AND ISOMETRIC DRAWINGS. EXPLAIN THE IMPORTANCE OF STANDARDS IN THE MODERN TECHNICAL DRAWING ENVIRONMENT.

    COURSE OUTCOMES:

    AFTER COMPLETING THIS COURSE, THE STUDENT WILL HAVE DEMONSTRATED THE ABILITY TO:

    CREATE FREE HAND MULTIVIEW SKETCHES.

    USE TRADITIONAL DRAFTING TOOLS TO PREPARE TECHNICAL DRAWINGS.

    PREPARE ORTHOGRAPHIC/ MULTIVIEW DRAWINGS USING MITER LINE TECHNIQUES.

    SET-UP, CREATE AND PRINT CAD DRAWINGS.

    DIMENSION DRAWINGS COMPLYING WITH ASME STANDARDS.

    DIMENSION ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS FOLLOWING ACCEPTED PRACTICES.

    PREPARE ISOMETRIC DRAWINGS USING AUTOCAD.

    GRADE DETERMINATION:

    50% DAILY WORK, CLASS PARTICIPATION.

    40% QUIZZES AND TESTS.

    10% NOTEBOOK COLLECTION AT END OF EACH MARKING PERIOD.
