Native American Magnet #19 After School Program

Native American Community Services (NACS) serves as the community partner for the Native American Magnet School (NAMS). NACS is proud to present the Positive Actions After School (PASS) program to children and their families, attending the NAMS in kindergarten through fourth grade.
The PASS program is funded by various sources, the largest being the New York State Department of Education.  From Monday through Friday, skilled staff provide academic support, enrichment opportunities and structured recreation from 2:45PM until 5:15PM.  Working collaboratively with school administration and staff, the PASS program offers a safe environment that cultivates both academic and non-academic competencies, including cultural considerations for multiple groups.

PASS is designed to be inclusive of restorative practices and sets a precedence for 100% participation in all activities.  Students are held accountable for their words and actions, making the atmosphere ideal for learning.  Expectations for staff and students are high, yet obtainable.  The program’s philosophy teaches children to find a balance between work and play by managing time accordingly.  Academic time is never compromised during program hours. As a result, children in program learn to value their education while still enjoying their adolescence.
