The CAO has been a partner with ECC #17 since the 2012-2013 school year to provide a Sequential, Active, Focused, and Explicit (SAFE) learning environment.  This program continues to serve between 120-175 students in Grades PK-4.  The curriculum is composed of both academics and enrichments.  In addition, the students are served a hot meal. The staff of the Community Action Organization provides back to basics Math and ELA curriculum that focuses on foundational learning and aligns all curriculum to Common Core Learning Standards and what is taught during the school day.  Another piece of the academic focus is on the social and emotional needs of all students.  There is a partnership in place with Child and Adolescent Treatment Services that helps the youth understand feelings, anger, conflict resolution, bullying and other day to day issues that come up in the lives of young people. Our enrichments include partnering with local organizations.  We provide the students with GUGA, Get Up and Get Active dance and movement, African Dance, Engineering for Kids, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Canisius College, Buffalo Animal Adventures, African Drumming, arts and crafts, cooking and nutrition, Paint the Town painting classes and computer programming.
