Dear Parents and Guardians,
Hello, my name is Mrs. Boggs. I am your child’s Special education teacher. I have the privilege of working with your children this school year. I am 42 years old and married to a wonderful man. I have been a teacher for 10 years and have worked in grades K-8. This is my fourth year at BPS. I am certified to teach Early childhood, Childhood, Special Education and Literacy. I feel every child has the potential to learn and I hold all kids to higher standards. I went into teaching because I have a 21-year-old son who has learning disabilities. I understand the struggles you and your child may have, and I am always here to help.
Mrs. Carter is my wonderful assistant. She lives with her husband and has a daughter who lives in Virginia. Mrs. Carter is very loving, but firm. She works very hard to motivate the students. Her loving and compassionate nature helps the students grow.
Our children learn in different ways and different paces and it is ok. We expect students to do their best and try to complete work. We expect students to try and get along with their peers. Finally, we encourage and expect students to be respectful of all adults they come in contact with. We also encourage parent involvement in all aspects of the classroom. It takes a village and we all need each other.
Students will have at least an hour of homework a night. Students need to read 20 minutes every night during the week. Math Homework will take about 15-20 minutes. It is important to reinforce the skills learned in the classroom. If your student is struggling with a particular assignment, please let me know. You can also help by practicing math facts at home. We will also have some type of Science or Social Studies homework. Students can always practice skills on Lexia and My- On. If the length of time of homework poses a problem, let me know, we can work something out.
For the first few weeks, students will be remote learning, we will learning about routines and expectations as well as Covid health information, cultural lessons, and social emotional lessons. Please check schoology every day for assignments, and my teacher webpage for links and announcements.
Thank you in advance for your partnership, we really appreciate your help. If there is anything we can do for you, please contact us by Email, Class Dojo, and phone.
My personal number is 716-603-2979. Please feel free to call me . If I can not be reached, I will return your call within 24 hours.
