South Park 18 Bennett 0 An excellent defensive game by the Sparks. Devonte Fountain (#4) had an interception and a receiving touchdown. Shakur Harris (#3) with an interception, multiple passes defended and an excellent rushing game. Nick Schaefer (#2) had a rushing td and a passing td and mu;tiple, sweet passes for nice gains. Jakari Woods (#5) was everywhere. He's looking to be selected to All Western New York this year. #12 Dayquan Anderson had his best game of the year. The Sparks haven't given up a point in the past three games. -

South Park's 2nd loss of the season saw the players fight until the last tick on the clock. The Sparks came out to an early lead, only to see East tie the game. In East territory on a 3rd quarter drive we turned over a lateral pass that lead to East's go ahead field goal, which was almost blocked by DeVonte Fountain (#4). A fourth quarter drive was upset by a bad third down snap. Our defense played strong and forced a punt. South Park would have one last drive. This drive brought the sparks into the red zone where a last second pass to the end zone was intercepted as time ran out. Coach Delaney was inducted into the Harvard Cup Hall of Fame at halftime. -

Our Sparks are faced with the challenge of needing to win their two remaining games in order to have a chance at the playoffs. The sparks jumped out to a 16-0 lead, only to see the Frontiersmen tie the game late in the second quarter. At halftime Coach Delaney told his players to look deep inside, telling them, "It's on you now." The 3rd quarter started with a nice, touchdown scoring drive, highlighted by the inspirational efforts of running back Shakur Harris(#3). The next big play came from Donte Ridgeway (#14), blocking a punt and chasing the ball through the end zone for a safety. The defense proved to be strong, keeping Riverside on their half of the field for most of the 3rd and 4th quarters. It took an amazing catch by Riverside's #13 for the Frontiersmen to break South Park's stingy 2nd half defense. South Park 32 Riverside 22 -

SPHS_Football_vs_Iroquois_2016.10.14_0-9
The Sparks enter tonight's game with an excellent defense led by MLB Ellijah Winston(2). They've allowed only 39 points in their last 4 games. In that same span the offense has scored 102 points, including blowout wins against West Seneca West and Riverside. That success has been largely due to their ability to run the ball. Shakur Harris(3) is sure to rip off big gains against any defense. Needing a win to enter the playoffs, the Sparks take on the Iroquois Chiefs, a team much like our own, built on solid defense and a strong running game led by Brandon Yax(20). The teams traded field position during the first two quarters when the Chiefs pushed our offense backwards and ended up with great field position. The defense kept them out of the end zone, holding Iroquios to a short field goal. The second half would have to be mistake free in order to win this game. Unfortunately, it wasn't. Poorly timed penalties, a bad snap and a lost fumble all put stress on the South Park defense, but they did not break and managed to keep Iroquios off the board. Late in the 4th quarter the Sparks drove the ball to the Iroquois red zone. The sure footed Nick Schaefer could surely tie the game with a field goal from here. Nick drops back to pass and sees DeVonte Fountain(4) cutting across the field. Under pressure, Nick hurls the ball to the 4 yard line where it is intercepted and returned for a touchdown. Any hope of reaching the playoffs begins to diminish. After the game coach Delaney tells the team that Riverside needed to beat McKinley in order for the the Sparks to make it into the playoffs. McKinley 48, Riverside 12. -

For those of you that like football and enjoy travel, this should be a very good game between two evenly matched teams. There were many vendors and activities for kids. Everyone had a very nice time! -
