The Buffalo Public School District is participating in the 4th year of the National Girls Who Game (GWG) challenge, which is sponsored by Dell, Microsoft, and Intel. Teams were tasked for the GWG Fall 2022 Challenge to examine how their school could become “a more responsible producer and consumer” and build their researched designs in a Minecraft for Education virtual world.
A virtual celebration, hosted entirely by District Girls Who Game Jr. Mentors from Schools 74 and 76 was held on February 9th to celebrate all the amazing work completed by our teams from Schools 30, 43, 54, 74, 76, and 79.
Certificates and medals were awarded to the top 3 schools:
🏆 1st Place – Herman Badillo Bilingual Academy School 76
🏆 2nd Place – Hamlin Park School 74
🏆 3rd Place – Lovejoy Discovery School 43
In addition, students from each team were recognized and celebrated for excellence in leadership. This amazing celebration of problem solving and design culminated with custom GWG cookies and a special “Red Stone” necklace for each team member.
As an exciting last-minute announcement, we were able to announce that two of our schools won at the National GWG level: Herman Badillo Bilingual Academy School 76 won third place for the National GWG Judges Award and Grabiarz School of Excellence School 79 won third place for the National GWG People’s Choice Award.
