I-Prep High School, Charity: Water Project

At International Prep High School, Mr. Lawrence Toole and his National Honor Society students have started an awareness campaign to help an organization called charity: water build water projects around the world. Many of his students have been fundraising and spreading their knowledge to anyone who will listen. These exceptional students have turnkeyed what they have learned in the classroom to teach others the urgency of today’s water crisis in undeveloped countries. As an international school of refugees and immigrants, many of the students had to walk for water themselves before their families came to America.

Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions that can help provide clean water to communities around the world.

“Many of my classmates have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of [clean] water to drink, here in The United States,” stated Luwam Mobae, one of Mr. Toole’s students who participated in an empathy walk for water last week on the grounds of International Prep.

Partnering with charity: water to raise awareness, there is a guarantee that 100% of the money raised by these students and others will be used to build clean water projects. As the projects come to completion, charity: water will send donors photos and GPS coordinates to see the exact location and community that is helped.

Mr. Toole and his International Prep National Honor Society are asking for monetary donations to raise awareness for the global water crisis. His students even created the slogan, asking people to take the “Drive for Five:” spend 5 minutes on the charitywater.org website; share on your social media w/ 5 friends; and donate $5 to help bring clean water to those in need.
