Black and Brown Like Me: Males of Color Speak Out

The Buffalo Public Schools My Brother's Keeper Male Academy in partnership with Helping Families and Children in America, Inc. present a Black History Tribute titled, "Black and Brown Like Me: Males of Color Speak Out." This event is scheduled for Saturday, February 1, 2020, at McKinley High School from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This Boys to Men Youth Empowerment Conference is a purposeful and well-driven conference designed to promote and support the positive efforts of male scholars. The objectives and outcomes of the conference are for male scholars to receive a clearer understanding of how to overcome and prevail when real life challenges plague their ability to manage their lives in an effective manner.

Training for the conference includes a variety of poignant topics, carefully selected to address concerns young males often grapple with daily.  One of the main goals of the conference is for boys to hear from men, who have experienced these same challenges, and how they are now using their knowledge to empower boys on how they, too, can overcome obstacles and lead successful lives. The conference begins with an opening ceremony followed by workshop breakouts, lunch, entertainment, and the rites of passage (the power of the necktie).

Please join the MBK Male Academy for this awesome opportunity to raise their voices, develop life skills, and pay tribute to Black History Month.
