We Need a Parent Facilitator - Join Our Team!

Harvey Austin #97 Parent Facilitator Job Description:

The parent facilitator will establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and families. They will work with administration and teachers to coordinate parent/community programs to help engage parents and families in order to increase student achievement.

 

Meetings:

· Attend monthly PTO & SBMT meetings in order to contribute information regarding specific action steps you’ve taken to increase parent involvement & increase engagement in the school.

o PTO & SBMT first Thursday of the month (meet with administrators/teachers)

o PTO @ Saturday Academy (meet with parents)

o Monthly DPCC meeting

o Attend workshops/PD with Harvey Austin staff and Administration

· Attend the annual parent summit by collaborating with CSN on working the Harvey Austin table. Engaging parents with the table by show casing all that Harvey Austin has to offer in order to get families to want to attend Harvey Austin.

 

School Events:

· Create fliers and/or promote school events including: Dads with Donuts, Muffins with Moms, Cuddle Up with A Book, Saturday Academy, etc.

· Contact businesses to fundraise money for school events.

o Update call log which includes the name of business contacted, reason, response, type of contact, follow up, donation made, etc.

§ Must maintain all records via GoogleDocs or OneNote

· Call parents to invite to events.

o Create a call log which includes the name of parent contacted, reason, response, type of contact, etc.

· Call parents to request volunteers for different events.

o Create a call log which includes the name of parent contact, reason, response, type of contact, etc.

· Organize, set up, and break down school events and activities.

· Be aware of school events that are occurring as to ensure appropriate information is communicated to parents.

 

Care Closet:

· Obtain & collect clothing/monetary donations for Care Closet.

o Update call log which includes the name of business contacted, reason, response, type of contact, follow up, donation made, etc.

§ Must maintain all records via GoogleDocs or OneNote

· Assist with keeping Care Closet organized and accessible.

· Fill Care Closet requests.

 

Saturday Academy:

· Set up PTO table at one Saturday Academy per month and work the table for at least 1 hour of the 3 hour SA session.

o Information at table would include various ways to get parents/families involved at Harvey Austin, volunteer opportunities, other resources and information for families.

· Collaborate with Community School Navigator on increasing engagement with SA and create ways to get more parents involved.

· Review parent surveys and collect contact information for families who state they are interested in volunteering.

o Update call log which includes the name of parent contact, reason, response, type of contact, etc.

Fundraising:

· Brainstorm creative ways for fundraising events and activities and present activity ideas to PTO members, Admin etc.

· Assist with coordinating and organizing PTO fundraising events (Penny Wars, Basket sales, BINGO, etc.)

· Assist with obtaining funds and requesting donations from other agencies. This can be done by writing letters, soliciting local small businesses etc. and making phone calls.

o Update call log which includes the name of business contacted, reason, response, type of contact, follow up, donation made, etc.
