Cultural Excursion

On November 1st and 2nd, 2019, extraordinary Scholars from the District's Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Teaching programs will engage in a historic tour of the Harriet Tubman Home and Burial Grounds, the church where she was married, and the Seward Mansion where abolitionist William Seward's mansion served as a safe house on the the legendary underground railroad. Students participating in the following instructional programs will participate: 

  • My Brother's Keeper Male Academy
  • Our Story Project
  • Scholars for Social Justice
  • Big Sister-Little Sister Dialogue program (My Little Sisters)
 
Additionally, the scholars will also engage in a viewing of the Harriet Tubman Motion Picture at Regal Cinemas where they will engage in a courageous dialogue related to  enslavement, freedom, Social Justice and the unparalleled heroism of " The Moses of Her People" Harriet Tubman, during a talk back session.
