Riverside Students Visit WNY Book Arts

Riverside students visit WNY Book Arts

Students in Riverside High School’s Graphic Communication and Business class visited a local art studio and print shop to learn about historic printing processes and create their own poster. The students attended a letterpress seminar at WNY Book Arts wnybookarts.org and used a quote they picked to create a poster using a press dating back to the 1930s. The students set the type, inked the press, and operated the machine to create the final product. The quote that the students chose as a class was “Don’t stop when you’re tired, stop when you’re done!”  The students learned a great deal about the time it took to create a page and the challenges involved with the printing process 100+ years ago. The students in attendance, whom are part of the Career and Technical Education department, were Aleasia Fernandes, Lo’Mont Day, Marcos Salgado, Shem Williams, Antonio Haley, Kiomarys Ramirez Rivera, and Treasure Jackson.
