We are excited to share the 2021 Fall Project Submission from the Herman Badillo Bilingual Academy - School 76 "Girls Who Game" team. "Girls Who Game" is an extracurricular program created by Dell Technologies with partners Microsoft and Intel. It provides an opportunity for underserved students across North America to learn about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through gaming. The players learn such skills as computational and critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, problem-solving, and innovation. The players are empowered to become leaders in STEM related fields.
Sixteen 5th-7th grade female students from PS76 Herman Badillo Bilingual Academy led by Instructional Technology Coach, Rebecca Fast, participated in this cohort’s national program with 30 other teams from across the country. Our BPS team was honored with the 2nd Place People’s Choice Award for their submission!
Based on their research, the PS76 Girls Who Game team designed a world in Minecraft for Education that highlighted six areas of wellness—relationships, environment, health, security, purpose, and community.
