Department Mission Statement
The Buffalo Public Schools World Languages Department firmly believes that reaching communicative competence in a language other than English is an essential part of a world class education. The mission of the BPS World Languages Department is to prepare students to become global citizens who possess linguistic proficiency as well as an appreciation and respect for cultural diversity. The department works to ensure the implementation of state and district policies on languages other than English and its goal of ensuring high academic achievement for all through continuous improvement of programs and services and promoting the value of second language acquisition.
