School Based Management Team (SBMT)

What is the "School-Based Management Team"

The purpose of school-based planning and shared decision making shall be to improve the educational performance of all students in the school, regardless of such factors as socioeconomic status, race, sex, language background, sexual orientation, or disability.

Required Attendees

  • At least 1 administrator

  • At least 5 teachers (BTF Delegate Chair/Building Committee Member)

  • At least 5 parents (DPCC rep, President parent organization, Parent Engagement Liason)

  • Teachers Aides/Assistants, Students, Additional School Staff, and Community members are recommended but not required

What are the duties and responsibilities of the SBMT?

•Monitor progress toward the School Comprehensive Education Plan (SCEP) goals

•SBMT will come to a consensus on the School Based Budget

•Determine whether or not outcomes are met or on track to be met and make appropriate recommendations for progress

•Be agents of restructuring, not solvers of day-to-day problems

•Be facilitators of decision-making

•Seek advice from individuals and educational research to shape decisions

•Make recommendations and bring concerns to the District Committee of Stakeholders

•Ensure parents and all other stakeholders are involved in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all programs

Meetings held in the Common Hall from 9am-10am.

*Notice will be given as soon as possible if meetings are rescheduled. If BPS is closed due to inclement weather or any other reasons, the district closure will serve as notice of cancellation.
