All BPS schools will be closed on Friday, June 19th in observation of Juneteenth.
This holiday commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. More specifically, it marks the day in 1865 when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation and free the last remaining enslaved people in the Confederacy.
