The first day of school at MECHS is Thursday, September 4, 2025. Students should arrive by 8:40 a.m. (doors open at 8:15 a.m.) and enter through the side door of the parking lot.
Important Information & Reminders:
College Classes Start Early: Buffalo State begins 8/25 and SUNY Erie begins 9/2. Please note that college and BPS calendars are different.
Attendance Matters: Students must be in school daily and on time by 8:40 a.m. Missing a day of high school is the same as missing multiple college classes.
Supplies: The district supply list can be found on the website.
Teachers may request additional items throughout the year.
Transportation: Students in grades 9–12 will ride the NFTA Metro buses. Passes will be distributed; the train is not allowed for use.
Code of Conduct & Handbook: These will be provided the first week of school.
Welcome Back Night: Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 5–7 p.m. Come meet your child’s teachers, review course information, and receive grading/expectation details.
Laptops: Student laptops will remain in school this year. Devices will be distributed and collected daily when needed for classwork.
Immunizations: Students without updated immunizations will be excluded from school starting September 17, 2025, in accordance with NYS Public Health Law 2164.

Family Engagement:
We are excited to welcome a new Parent Engagement Liaison this year. Families will continue to receive direct support through this role and the Department of Family & Community Engagement (FACE).
In Memory:
We also honor the memory of Ms. Tasha Ervin-Garner (“Ms. G”), our longtime security officer, who passed away on July 31, 2025. She was a beloved member of the MECHS community and will be deeply missed.
