Discovery Families,
We are excited to begin a new school year. We would like to start off by wishing the best to two of our long-time staff members in their retirement, Ms. Hannon and Mrs. Thompson. We are sorry to see these high character teachers who were so dedicated to their craft retire. We will miss them.
The support that our Discovery community continues to give will undoubtedly lead to our success. We endeavor to raise the bar for our students to ensure that they are prepared to meet the challenges they will face. We will be departmentalizing the 5th and 6th grades which will lead to greater success for our students. Moving to more reading and writing and less screen time for our students will be part of our mission this year. The staff at Discovery is the best in the District and we are committed to ensuring student success through rigor and high expectations.
We have added to our great staff and are excited to welcome them to our Discovery family: Ms. Colosimo (5/6 grades English), Mr. Edinger (health/physical education .4), Mrs. Sikorski (social worker .5), Mrs. Simmons (8th grade math), Mr. Fazio (.4 technology), Ms. Jenkins (.4 technology), Mrs. Judge (.4 FACS), Ms. Scott (.4 FACS), Mrs. Gizzi (7/8 grades math), Mr. Brophy(SpEd) and Mr. Mendola (SpEd).
In addition, we celebrate the introduction of Dr. Prophet-Bullock as Buffalo Public Schools new Superintendent. We look forward to the future under her leadership.
Discovery 67 will continue to partner with Parker Academy for our after-school program (ELT). Once again this means that Mrs. Stegura, our PTO President and Parent Engagement liaison, will be the coordinator of that program. We are excited for the many programs and activities our after-school program will offer.

We hope you enjoy the remaining days of summer, and we look forward to another amazing year at Discovery 67! The first day of school for the students is Thursday, September 3rd.
