Data Protection 101 Student Privacy PIN Remember to request the Student Privacy PIN from non-BPS staff before giving out information about a student’s location/attendance or any other details over the phone. Data Storage Never store any Student PII or Staff APPR on a non-district device or non-BPS cloud storage. Never email data to/through your personal email. Never store data on an unsecured (password/biometric) portable device including flash drives, external hard drives, or mobile phones. Data Breach If you have a complaint regarding the possible unauthorized disclosure of Student/Staff Personal Identifiable Information (PII), send an email from your BPS email account to DataPrivacy@buffaloschools.org. Please include ONLY the following text, your name, and NO additional details: “I believe a data breach has occurred. Please contact me at (provide your extension or phone number) to discuss this further.” Someone from the Data Protection Office will contact you shortly.
