Superintendent Mubenga, the Board of Education, and the district's Department of Athletics proudly recognize the outstanding accomplishments of our student-athletes, coaches, and teams during the 2025 Fall Sports Season. These programs demonstrated excellence, perseverance, teamwork, and pride while representing Buffalo Public Schools at the sectional, regional, and state levels.
During their inaugural season, Coach Watkins guided the BPS Modified Football program to an impressive record of 6–0–1.
The McKinley Macks made school history by capturing the program’s first-ever Class A Sectional Championship with an impressive 38–14 victory over Health Sciences Charter School. The Macks also advanced to the Far West Regional before falling to Brighton, finishing an unforgettable season as Section VI Class A Champions.
The Lewis J. Bennett Tigers continued their tradition of excellence with a dominant postseason run. On their way to advancing to the state semifinals, they won playoff games against Jamestown and Penfield.
The Lafayette Boys Soccer team, with student-athletes such as Ramazani and David, delivered an extraordinary postseason journey that culminated in a trip to the NYSPHSAA Class B State Championship Game.
City Honors 11th grade student-athlete Henry had an exceptional cross country season, winning the Class B Sectional Championship, finishing 4th overall at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class B State Championship Race, and breaking the BPS Delaware Park 2.5-mile course record on October 24 with a time of 12:31, surpassing the previous record of 12:36.
