From Simulation to Competition: STLP Students Prepare for UB Drone STEM Challenge

Students in the Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) are competing in the 2026 University at Buffalo Drone STEM Program through the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. The following STLP schools were selected for this year’s program: 6, 43, 69, 97, 156, 197, 207, 212, and 355.

Student Technology Leaders (STLs) are actively engaging in a series of immersive, hands-on learning experiences at the Jacobs School of Medicine. During these sessions, students are building and applying their skills through activities such as drone flight simulation, laparoscopic surgery simulations, suturing techniques, and video game–based motor skill development.

STLs have just wrapped up their second practice session and have two more sessions remaining before the culminating competition in May. During the competition, teams will demonstrate their skills and compete against other participating schools.
