Central Commissary

The new Buffalo Public Schools Central Commissary at 1016 East Delevan Avenue will significantly improve the quality and freshness of meals served to students across the district. Using the cook-chill food preparation method, the new state-of-the-art facility will allow staff to prepare meals from scratch in large quantities with fresher, often locally sourced ingredients. This is a major upgrade from the previous reliance on processed, frozen foods and will increase the variety and nutritional value of options available to your children. This investment reflects a deep commitment to student wellness and better addresses the diverse cultural needs of our student body.

The new facility will also create a better experience for the food service staff who prepare your children's meals, with a larger and safer working environment. In addition to enhanced kitchens and storage areas, the building will include a test kitchen and training room, which will enable our staff to continually improve the quality and variety of food. Beyond serving students, the new commissary is also planned to be a valuable community asset, with opportunities for local residents to utilize the space and learn about healthy eating habits.

We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the food services department and to the community members who supported the vision for a new commissary for their commitment to the well-being of the students throughout the district.  We are excited about how this modern facility will nourish our students and the wider Buffalo community for years to come.
