Buffalo Public School District Staff Laptop /Tablet and Cellphone Return Procedures

For Retiring, Resigning, Terminated, and Temporary Teachers and Staff on Un-Paid Leave of Absences

District Protocol requires that all retiring, resigning and terminated staff must return any laptop(s) or tablet(s) that have been assigned to them before their departure. In addition, staff that are approved for an Un-Paid Leave of Absence must return their device prior to starting their Leave and all Temporary Teachers must return their assigned laptops by the end of the school year. This staff, upon rehire, may request for another laptop by submitting a Team Dynamix IT ticket. **Please note - District owned laptops or tablets should not remain at the school/department or given to another staff member as a transfer. Data Backup Tips:

The following are suggested tips to help you save any personal files or information before returning your district-issued laptop or tablet.

  • Use Your Personal (Non-BPS) OneDrive or Google Drive – Move any personal files from your desktop, documents, or downloads into your own personal, non-BPS cloud account.

  • Email Yourself Personal Files – For smaller items, you can email personal documents to your personal (non-BPS) email account if district policy allows.

  • Save to an External Device – Copy personal files onto a USB flash drive or external hard drive that you own.

  • Export Browser Bookmarks – If you saved personal websites in Chrome, Edge, or Firefox, export your bookmarks to keep them.

  • Back Up Personal Photos & Videos – Transfer any personal media to your own personal cloud account (non-BPS) such as Google Photos, iCloud, or an external device.

  • Check Common Folders – Review Desktop, Documents, Downloads, and any shared folders for personal content you want to keep.
