Seventh and eighth-grade Student Technology Leaders (STLs) from Schools 37, 79, and 97 participated in an exciting field trip to the University at Buffalo’s South Campus in collaboration with the UB Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP). During the visit, students rotated between two hands-on STEAM stations designed to ignite curiosity and creativity.

At the first station, students assembled robotic butterflies and remote-controlled cars using wood STEAM kits, gaining insight into mechanical design and engineering. At the second station, students took on the challenge of building obstacle courses and programming Sphero robots to navigate through them—enhancing their skills in coding, collaboration, and critical thinking.

This experience provided our STLs with the opportunity to apply their technical skills in a fun and engaging university setting while exploring the real-world applications of STEM education.
