What is NY Inspires and how does it relate to the Graduation Measures initiative?
On November 4, 2024, the New York State Education Department (“Department”) presented NY Inspires: A Plan to Transform Education in New York State. This plan includes a timeline for implementing the four key transformations that established the proposed vision for implementing the recommendations of the Blue Ribbon Commission on Graduation Measures
Is there a way for me to view the presentations to the Board of Regents?

Was this timeline adopted by the Board of Regents on November 4?
While the Board of Regents voiced support for the plan presented, a formal vote was not required. However, many of the actions included in the implementation plan will be presented to the Board of Regents for their approval or adoption at future meetings.
As of July 2025, the following amendments have been presented to the Board of Regents.
Posthumous Diplomas, approved for emergency action on May 7, 2024
Exemptions for Major Life Events, approved for emergency action on March 11, 2025
On July 14, 2025, the Board of Regents also adopted the New York State Portrait of a Graduate.
