BUFFALO, N.Y. (April 10, 2025) – Following the completion of the initial planning phase, the Buffalo City School District Board of Education is pleased to announce that an active search for its next Superintendent of Schools has begun. Central to this effort is the engagement of the Buffalo community, including employees, parents/caregivers, students, and other stakeholders, to ensure that the District’s needs and priorities are comprehensively addressed.
To gather valuable input, a brief, two-question digital survey is available on the Buffalo City School District website, offering a convenient platform for sharing thoughts on the desirable qualities and characteristics of the next Superintendent. The ThoughtExchange communication platform will host this survey, which will remain open until May 1, 2025. Additionally, small focus group sessions with stakeholders will take place throughout the city.
The Superintendent Search page on the District’s website provides further resources, including the survey link, a vacancy brochure, a timeline, application and focus group details.
The Board plans to extend an offer to the successful candidate by July 2025, with the goal of welcoming the new Superintendent to Buffalo City School District by the fall of 2025.
"We are deeply grateful for the community's collaboration and contributions throughout this important search process," said Kathy Evans-Brown, Buffalo City School District Board of Education President. "Together, we will identify a leader who will guide our schools toward continued excellence."
