Device Collection (Students) | June 2026

Student devices are being collected at the end of this school year to prepare for the 2026–2027 school year. Due to nationwide supply chain delays, the district will not receive new devices for the start of the new school year, making it essential that all current devices are returned on time, so schools are not short on technology in the Fall.

Collection FAQs

When will student devices stop working at home?

Beginning June 5, 2026, all student devices will be restricted for use inside school buildings only. Devices will no longer function off‑site unless a student meets an approved exception. 

Are there any exceptions that allow students to take devices home?

Yes, limited exceptions apply for students with: 

  • Medical or home instruction needs 

  • An IEP that designates the device as a communication tool 

Additional high school‑only (Grades 9–12) exceptions include: 

  • Connexus students 

  • Students in approved AP, IB, or Dual Credit courses 

  • Students with active device insurance who are returning in Fall 2026 

My child is taking Regents or CTE exams. Can they use the device to study at home?

Yes, Grades 9–12 students taking Regents or CTE exams may request short‑term off‑site device use only if a required release form is completed by June 3 at noon. Approved devices will work off‑site through June 24, 2026, only

What if my child is attending Summer School?

Students attending summer school will be provided access to devices at their assigned summer school building. Devices will remain on site for the duration of the summer program.

What happens if my child does not return the device or charger?

If a device or charger is not returned by the deadline, the school will contact families to arrange return. Devices that are not returned may result in charges to families or impact device availability for the next school year. 

When must devices and chargers be returned?

All students must return both the device and charger to their school building no later than June 25, 2026. Devices must be returned in good working condition. On this date, all devices will again be restricted to school‑only use. 

Can the device be returned after June 25?

Schools may manage short extensions only through June 30, 2026. After that date, unreturned devices will move into a collection and billing process. Families are strongly encouraged to return devices by June 25 to avoid issues.
