STLP School 97 Student Technology Leaders Visit WIVB News Studio Technology Department

Student Technology Leaders from Harvey Austin School 97, known as The Panther Productions, participated in an exciting professional learning experience at the WIVB News studio as part of the district’s Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP). As the team responsible for producing a live school news broadcast every morning, these STLs were eager to expand their skills and learn directly from professionals in the field.

During their visit, students toured the studio, met with news anchors and production staff, and explored the many technical and creative roles that power a live broadcast. They also observed a live taping of the news, gaining firsthand insight into the fast-paced teamwork, communication, and technology that mirror the work they do each day at school.

This experience reflects the mission of the Student Technology Leadership Program—empowering students through innovative, real-world learning opportunities that strengthen leadership, innovation, and technical skills.
