Mission Statement:

The mission of the Office of Equity & Governance is to ensure that all policies, practices, and systems across Buffalo Public Schools are grounded in fairness, accountability, and transparency. We are committed to advancing equitable outcomes for all students and stakeholders by aligning governance structures with data-informed decision-making, continuous improvement, and responsible stewardship.

Through strategic oversight, collaboration, and the implementation of equitable policies and procedures, we work to remove barriers, promote consistency, and strengthen organizational integrity. Our office supports the district in creating conditions where every student has access to high-quality opportunities, and every stakeholder is supported through clear expectations, inclusive practices, and effective leadership.

Our focus includes assessing and strengthening the district’s capacity to support equitable, inclusive, and effective practices across all systems. This includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:

  • Policy Review & Equity Alignment

  • Data Monitoring & Accountability Systems

  • Organizational Effectiveness & Compliance

  • Inclusive Leadership & Decision-Making

  • Workforce Equity & Retention Strategies

  • Resource Allocation & Contracting Oversight

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Transparency

  • Continuous Improvement & Performance Metrics

In addition, the Office of Equity & Governance leads and supports ongoing Culturally Responsive and Equity aligned professional development to ensure staff and leadership are equipped to implement equitable practices, uphold accountability, and make informed, consistent decisions across the district.

Ombudsperson Submission Instructions:

The Office of Equity & Governance provides a confidential and impartial process for stakeholders to report concerns related to Buffalo Public Schools. This form allows individuals to submit complaints for review by the Ombudsperson.
