Student leaders from across Buffalo Public Schools met at City Hall for the BPS Inter High Student Council meeting. They toured City Hall, met with Superintendent Dr. Pascal Mubenga and city leaders, and shared ideas about our community. Thanks to the Student Support Department for helping students get involved in local government.
On this day in Women’s History, March 13, 1933, Frances Perkins was sworn in as U.S. Secretary of Labor under Franklin D. Roosevelt, becoming the first woman to serve in a presidential cabinet.

On this day in Women’s History, March 9, 1953, Rosa Parks was born. She would go on to become an iconic figure in the fight for civil rights, famously refusing to give up her bus seat and helping spark the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
Congratulations goes out to the Frederick Law Olmsted boys basketball team as they won the Section VI overall Class B championship with a dominant performance over Tapestry 58 - 45.

On this day in Women’s History, March 5, 1931, Geraldyn Jerrie Cobb was born. She later became a record-setting pilot and the first woman to pass the astronaut qualifying exams in 1959!
March is Reading Month, a time to celebrate the joy and importance of reading. At PS 64, students had the opportunity to hear Dr. Mubenga read and share stories with them. It was a special moment that highlighted how books can spark imagination, build confidence, and inspire a lifelong love of learning.
